Wow, I have not updated since the school shooting. That was forever ago.

Then again, nothing nearly as Newsworthy has happened. I'm going to college in a week (quit asking me why I'm not there already, moron, Ohio doesn't start school until mid September) and I'm pretty nervous. Seems so far away from either Midland or Chicago. I'm going to miss having my own room. =/

Speaking of Chicago, we spent a weekend a few weeks ago spying on the filming of Batman. Very cool. I'm hoping Skybridge will be in it. They were shooting downtown when I was there. My dad has been going to a lot of trouble to take pictures of it all. We're such geeks. XD I'm not even a huge Batman fan, but the fact that it is in Chicago makes it awesome. Can't wait for the movie.

Hmm, 3:00a.m., time for bed. For someone who's about to start college, I certaintly am not on any sort of schedule.

Yesterday

Yes, my school was on the news, but everything is alright. Our school is already back to its regular 'blue ribbon' groove.

Just to dispel a few rumors (partly inspired by the slip-shod TV broadcasting concerning the event) the shooter was not from MPS schools, he was never at any time loose roaming the halls (do you think the hall Nazi’s would have stood for that?). There was a history between the shooter and his victim, so I doubt anyone else was in danger. Secondly, the staff and students responded appropriately to the situation. Even the students locked in the Cafeteria near to where the shooting had occurred did not break out in to panic and hysteria. Finally (not to pick a fight with concerned parents) Dow High remained the safest place for students to be after the incident, seeing as a) The shooter shot himself, and b) half the state's police were campus armed with semi-automatics (just in case). The code red was called to maintain order while the police ran their investigation. The shooting ended before most people even knew it occurred.

As for me, I'm as okay as a person can be without being offensive to the situation. At the time of the shooting, I was on a bus on my way back to school from district choir festival, so I was away from all the action. I don't want to say everyone that called me has been over-reacting and that you shouldn’t be worrying about me, because I am personally touched that you all care. To put you at ease, I did not know the girl (I was however ecstatic to hear she would survive), and I still believe MPS is one of the safest school systems in the United States. All's still quiet on the Northern Front. We had a little excitement, but we proved we’re capable. =)

So instead of buying a Wii I have applied to seven different colleges. Someone once said applying to colleges is like casting a fishing lure: Wait patiently until one bites. For me though this whole experience has been like writing a bunch of flyers that say, "Will you go out with me? Yes No (circle one)” and dumping them off a skyscraper. I am a little apprehensive. People are expecting me to do great things once I leave high school. Lewin said I should try some colleges out in NYC, but that sounded scary, so I'm going to try to stay in the Midwest. People are nicer here.

I retook the ACT in October and miraculously received the same score. The science section improved while the reading and math sections took a turn for the worst. I got 33 on the English portion, two points better than last time, which really psyched me out. =D

Hey guys.

What have I been doing in the past months?

NONE OF YOUR FAT BUISNESS, WEIRDO.

Yay Rio! May her crazy liverjournal tyranny live on!

Requisite bi-yearly update completed. I can go to bed now.

This summer has totally been devoted to baby-sitting. My sister and her husband selling their house, and have been staying with us until they find a new recidence. I've been watching my niece and nephew. They are three and one, but neither are bratty, so this has been no problem.

I have been getting really anxious about colledges. I still don't know where I want to go. I need to find a place with a good liberal arts program. I had some in mind, but my SAT scores weren't that great. I'm re-taking, though I need to boost each up by at least fifty points to meet minimum requierments. Bleh. That doesn't sound like fun.

I just want you to know, computer, that I am only updating my jouranl because I am particuarily bored, and otherwise I wouldn't touch you because you are being stupid.

My current location is Chicago now. I just put my niece in bed an hour ago. We had a busy day today. Mom and Dad took us kiddies to the park, which was having a gathering of fans for the one year anniversery for Wicked by the old watertower. A lot of people dressed as witches for the occasion. Actually, I think they more wanted to cash in on the free tickets they were handing out to the first 365 witches. Mmm-hmm. Chicago's Elphaba, Nessa Rose, and Fiyero showed up too, which was why we went.

Then we took the kids to the World's Largest McDonalds and sat at the World's Nifty-est Table. Seriously guys, this was one sweet hunk of plastic. It had a light projector that shown on it from above, which interacted with our hand movements. For example, it had a setting that made it appear that our table had a surface of rippling green water, which we could create ripples in by tapping on it. Dolly went nuts over it.

Okay, I gotta go now because my computer is working now, and people are home. Frazillia!

End of the year wrap up

The highlight of today was passing my road's test without hitting anyone. Or throwing up. Actually, they said I was a very good driver and sent me away with a pink certificate. Very plesent.

Now I just need some nifty decals for Ol' Denty. I ain't paying something-something bucks to have the dent of the front-driver's side bumped out of an old blue buick. Besides, dents add character. I'm not much of a decal person personally, but I think some nice white Arial Black should go across the window for the car's name.

Someday I will update my DevArt. That might not be today, but it will hopefully be before I leave to go to Chicago for the summer.

Oh, and RunWalk day was tubular.

And before I forget

Happy birthday to my older brother [info]kerbyaj007 who is now a year older than the lofty age he was previously. Congratulations! May the fast-food restruants continue to allow you to scam them into giving you free food!

Dow RunWalk

As most of you know, the Dow RunWalk chose my logo for this year's T-shirt design. Check it out on the MCC website. I like how they incorperated it into the navigation bar. I wish I knew how they got that nice white outline on the outside of all my vectors; they must know something about adobe Illustrator that I don't.

The RunWalk is going to be on the first weekend in June. Please come if you can make it!

Attention!

It's been awhile since I've been online and active. Just recently I've noted it's April, which is important, because a trio of you livejournal huggers seem to have all been born on either side of the same night. What is up with that.

So, at the risk of being sued by Michael Jackson, I would like to sing you all a song.

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
You live in a monkey,
And you look like a zoo!

Oh, and this is not your typical belated birthday note. I'm actually writing this on Sunday night and sending it through a timewarp so it will appear on Wednesday, that way the festivities will live beyond the confines of a mere date. Just letting you know so no one is offended.

Have a rockn' Wednesday night!
